Privacy Policy

This policy explains what ResumHero collects when you use resumhero.com and the app at app.resumhero.com, what we do with it, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it plainly. If anything is unclear, write to hello@resumhero.com.
1. What we collect
We collect only what the product needs to work.
- Account details: your name and email address. If you sign up with a password, we store it only as a one-way hash, never the password itself. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, your email address and your Google account identifier from Google. We do not receive your Google password or access to anything else in your Google account.
- Your career content: what you put in your career profile and resumes, such as work experience, education, skills, projects, certifications, links, a summary, and a photo if you add one.
- LinkedIn details, only if you choose "Build from LinkedIn": you sign in on LinkedIn, and LinkedIn sends us your name, your email address (and whether LinkedIn has verified it), a link to your profile photo and your LinkedIn account identifier. We use them once to start your resume. We do not receive your LinkedIn password, we do not keep any access to your LinkedIn account, and we never post to it. Only what you save into a resume is kept.
- Files you upload: when you import an existing resume (PDF or Word, including a LinkedIn profile PDF), we read the file to fill in your profile or resume, then discard it. We do not keep the file. We keep only its name, type and size as a record of the import.
- Job information you provide: job descriptions you paste in for tailoring, the cover letters generated from them, and the applications you choose to track.
- Usage of AI features: a count of how many times you have used the features that have a monthly allowance, so the allowance can be applied.
- Technical data: standard server logs and basic, aggregate analytics about visits (see "Cookies and analytics").
We do not ask for, and you should not enter, sensitive information that a resume does not need, such as government ID numbers, bank details or health information.
2. How we use it
- To provide the product: storing your profile and resumes, generating PDF and Word files, tailoring a resume to a job, and tracking your applications.
- To run the AI features you ask for (see the next section).
- To keep your account secure and prevent abuse, for example by limiting the rate of requests.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the product is used so we can improve it.
- To contact you about your account or important changes to the service.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your resume content for advertising.
3. AI processing
Some features use artificial intelligence: reading an uploaded resume, organizing an imported LinkedIn profile into a resume, drafting a starter resume, rewriting or drafting bullets, the content assistant, the quality check, suggesting what to trim when a resume runs past one page, tailoring a resume to a job description, judging how well a job fits your background, writing a cover letter, and designing a custom template. The ATS check and the page count do not use AI.
When you use one of these features, the content needed for it (for example the relevant parts of your resume and the job description you pasted) is sent to a third-party AI model provider, directly or through an AI routing service that forwards it to the provider, and the result is returned to us. This happens only when you use an AI feature; it does not happen in the background.
We do not use your content to train AI models of our own. The AI providers process the content under their own terms and privacy policies.
AI output is a suggestion. Nothing changes on your resume until you accept it, and you should review everything before you send it to an employer.
4. Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the product:
- Hosting and database providers that store the data and run our servers.
- AI model providers, and the AI routing service that connects us to them, for the AI features described above.
- Google, for Google Analytics, and for sign-in if you choose "Continue with Google".
- LinkedIn, only if you choose "Build from LinkedIn": LinkedIn confirms your sign-in and sends us the profile details described above. We send LinkedIn nothing from your profile or resumes.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users or the service. If the service is ever transferred to another company, your data would move with it under the same commitments, and we would tell you first.
5. Cookies and analytics
The app keeps you signed in using your browser's local storage rather than cookies.
We use Google Analytics to measure visits to the website and the app. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as pages viewed, which buttons and features are used (for example, that a resume was created or downloaded, or which template was chosen), and approximate location derived from your IP address. These events never include your name, email address, or the content of your resumes, cover letters or job descriptions. You can block these cookies in your browser settings or with a browser extension without losing any feature of the product.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account and its content for as long as your account exists. You can delete individual resumes, profile entries and tracked applications in the app at any time.
To delete your whole account and everything in it, email hello@resumhero.com from the address the account uses. We will delete it within 30 days, except for anything we are legally required to keep. Backups are overwritten on their normal schedule after that.
7. Your choices and rights
- See and correct your data: everything you entered is visible and editable in the app.
- Export it: you can download any resume as a PDF or Word file at any time, on every plan.
- Delete it: delete items in the app, or ask us to delete your account at hello@resumhero.com.
- Ask questions or object: write to hello@resumhero.com if you want to know what we hold about you, or want us to stop a particular use of it.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local data protection law, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We will honour valid requests wherever you are.
8. Security
Connections to the website and the app are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Access to your data in the app requires your account.
No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects your data, we will tell you without undue delay.
9. International processing
Our service providers may store and process data in countries other than the one you live in. By using the service you understand that your data may be processed in those countries.
10. Children
ResumHero is a tool for job seekers and is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to hello@resumhero.com and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
12. Contact
Questions about this policy or your data: hello@resumhero.com.
