Free AI resume builder

The resume builder that tailors every copy to the job

Put your career into one profile, make a resume from it in minutes, and adjust it for each job description you apply to. The AI suggests; you decide what goes in.

No card. One resume and two templates on the free plan, for as long as you like.

What the resume builder does

ResumHero is an online resume builder, and a CV builder for markets that say CV. You write your experience once, in a career profile, and every resume you create draws from it. Your details, roles, skills, projects, education and certifications are entered once and reused.

From there it helps in the places a blank template does not: it compares your resume with a job description, points out what is missing, suggests stronger wording you can accept or reject, and checks the result against a written quality standard and an ATS check before you download it.

Who it is for

  • Students and new graduates

Start from the job title you are aiming for and get an outline with the right sections and prompts. Projects get their own section, so coursework, internships and volunteer work can carry the page.

  • People applying to many jobs

Each job ad asks for something slightly different. The job matcher shows what this one wants that your resume does not say yet.

  • Career changers

When a job is in a different field, the matcher flags the roles that do not fit and offers to trim them from that copy, leaving your profile intact.

  • Applicants in other countries

Resume or CV, one page or several, photo or no photo: the templates cover US-style resumes, academic CVs and an international CV with an optional photo.

How it works

  1. Bring in what you already have

Upload an old resume as PDF or Word, build from LinkedIn, or start from a job title. You review what was found before anything is saved.

  2. Choose a template

Every layout is one column in reading order with standard headings. Switch at any time; your content stays as it is.

  3. Match it to a job description

Paste the ad. You get a score, what matches, what is missing, and suggested rewrites shown as before and after. Keep the ones you agree with.

  4. Check it, download it, track it

Run the quality check and the ATS check, confirm it fits the page, then export a PDF or Word file and log the application.

Why build your resume here

  • Write it once

One career profile behind every resume, so the second and tenth application take minutes, not an evening.

  • Every change is visible

Suggestions appear as before and after. Nothing is rewritten or reordered without you accepting it, and accepted changes can be undone.

  • Nothing is invented

The AI rephrases what you wrote. It does not add jobs, dates, numbers or skills you did not give it.

  • Your files stay free

PDF and Word export are free on every plan. You never have to upgrade to download your own resume.

Built with applicant tracking systems in mind

Many employers read applications through an applicant tracking system (ATS) before a person does. Layouts with tables, text boxes or multiple columns can come out of those systems scrambled.

Every ResumHero template keeps your text in one column with real headings, and the ATS check in the editor shows how a parser reads your own resume. No tool can promise how every employer’s system is configured, but you can remove the formatting problems that are within your control.

Resume builder questions

Before you start building

Is the resume builder free to use?

Yes. The free plan includes one career profile, one resume, the ATS Professional and Graduate templates, PDF and Word export, and three quality checks, three tailoring runs and three cover letters each month. No card is needed. Premium, which will add more resumes, every template and more AI runs, is coming soon.

Where do I actually build the resume?

In the ResumHero app at app.resumhero.com. Create a free account and you land on your dashboard, where you can import a resume, build from LinkedIn or start from a job title.

Do I have to write my resume from scratch?

No. Import an existing PDF or Word resume, or build from LinkedIn, and the builder fills in your profile for you to review. If you have nothing to start from, a job title gives you an outline with prompts.

Can I tailor my resume for different jobs on the free plan?

Yes, three tailoring runs a month. Each run compares your resume with one job description and suggests changes for that resume. The free plan has one resume, so you re-tailor that one; Premium will let you keep a separate resume per job.

How long does it take to build a resume?

It depends on what you start from. Importing a resume takes about ten seconds to read, plus the time you spend reviewing each section. Comparing the result with a job ad takes under ten seconds.
